If you have a Kindle device, then you want to enroll in Kindle Rewards and potentially even subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. With Kindle Rewards, you can earn redeemable points for each Kindle eBook that you purchase. These points can then be redeemed for more Kindle eBooks and print books. So whether you're into fiction, nonfiction, or even cookbooks, Kindle Rewards is a great way to get the most bang for your reading dollars.

What Are Kindle Rewards?

Kindle Rewards is a rewards program by Amazon that allows users to earn points for purchasing Kindle books.

These are the main elements of the program:

  • Earning Points: Users can earn 3 points per dollar spent on Kindle books and 1 point per dollar spent on print books. Bonus offers may also be available, allowing users to earn additional points.
  • Redeeming Points: For every 300 points earned, users can redeem $3 to spend on Kindle ebooks. The maximum discount per purchase is $3.
  • Eligible Books: Users can redeem their points on all eligible books, except for magazines and certain other exclusions.
  • Enrollment: The program is free, and users don't need to do anything to sign up. If the program is available to a user, they will see "earn XX points" on the Kindle and print format sections of eligible books on Amazon.
  • Kindle Rewards vs Shop with Points: Kindle Rewards should not be confused with Amazon's Shop with Points program, as they are different.

To stay updated on your Kindle Points and bonus offers, be sure to bookmark your account's Kindle Rewards page and subscribe to Kindle Rewards emails.

Important Note: Kindle Rewards is Still in Beta

It's important to note that the Kindle Rewards program is currently in beta. This means that it is still in the testing phase and is not yet fully released to the public. During the beta phase, Amazon can make changes to the program, such as adjusting the points earned per dollar spent or changing the redemption rules.

While program changes can be frustrating, the good part about a beta program is that users can provide feedback and help Amazon refine the program before its full public release.

Kindle Rewards Points by Sample Book Titles

The number of points you can earn within Kindle Rewards varies by book title. Some book titles may earn you 6 points in Kindle Rewards while others may earn you double that.

Here are some example titles and their points:

  • In Five Years by Rebecca Serle - 6 points
  • Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls - 6 points
  • The Guest List by Lucy Foley - 15 points
  • The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson - 12 points

Amazon Points: The Fine Print

Like with any program, knowing the fine print is key to getting the most out of the offer. The Amazon Kindle Rewards program is pretty straight-forward, but here are a few details you'll want to be aware of:

Kindle Rewards Program Terms & Conditions:

  • You can only earn Amazon points on eligible Kindle books and print books purchased through the Kindle Rewards beta program.
  • The maximum number of points you can earn on any single Kindle book is 200 (or 400 points total on double points days and triple points days.)
  • It may take up to 24 hours for Kindle Rewards points to reflect in one's account once they are earned.
  • Kindle Rewards points can be redeemed for account credit, which can only be redeemed for eligible Kindle books. Kindle Rewards account credit cannot be used for physical goods, Amazon gift cards, or subscriptions.
  • Any unused Kindle Rewards credit will expire 30 days from the date it is applied to your account.

How to Purchase Kindle Books

If you've never purchased a Kindle book before, you're in for a treat. Kindle books are a great way to store and read any number of digital books right from your Kindle device. If you don't yet have a Kindle device, here are some to consider

How to purchase Kindle books on Amazon:

  1. Open a web browser: You cannot buy Kindle books directly from the Kindle app or Amazon app. Instead, open the Amazon website in a browser on your device.
  2. Go to the Kindle Store: Visit the Kindle Store at www.amazon.com/ebooks.
  3. Search for a book: Type the book's title or author's name in the search bar at the top of the page.
  4. Select the Kindle version: When you find the book you want, click on it to open the book's details page. Choose the Kindle version of the book.
  5. Add the book to your cart: Click the "Buy for [$ Price]" or "Buy now with 1-click" button to add the book to your cart.
  6. Proceed to checkout: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the checkout process. You may be prompted to sign in to your Amazon account or create one if you don't have one.
  7. Choose the delivery method: During the checkout process, select the device or app where you want the book to be delivered. For example, if you want the book to be sent to your Kindle app on your iPhone, choose "Send to [Your Name's] iPhone."
  8. Complete the purchase: After selecting the delivery method, complete the purchase by providing your payment information and confirming the transaction.
  9. Access your purchased book: Once the purchase is complete, the book will automatically appear in your Kindle app library or on your Kindle device, ready to be downloaded and read.

The last thing to note is that you need to make sure your Kindle device is linked to your Amazon account to make purchases. If you're using a Kindle device, follow the on-screen instructions during the first-time setup to connect to your Wi-Fi network and complete the setup process.
